spacerFive years ago we moved lock, stock and daylilies to our farm. The move helped us put all our daylilies in one place, and certainly made taking care of the cows much easier. Our farm is located between Buskirk and Johnsonville, NY, along Rt. 67. Located just east of the Hudson River, we have the benefit of views of both the Green Mountains of VT and the Adirondack Mountains of NY.
Spring Grazing
spacerThe farm is a two-part operation. Melanie's daylilies occupy about an acre surrounding the farmhouse. We grow over 1000 registered varieties, as well as the seedlings from Melanie's hybridizing program. Our farm is a solid climate zone 4, and a good test for winter hardiness for the north. If a daylily performs well here, you can feel confident that it should grow well for anyone in zones 3-7.

spacerOur collection of daylilies spans the generations and includes minis, small-flowers, doubles, spiders, and exotic forms from a wide assortment of hybridizers. All are specifically selected for their ability to perform well in a cold climate. Melanie hybridizes with tetraploids, so there is an extra large selection of these. These can all be seen on Melanie Mason's Introductions, Previous Introductions and on our 2010 Catalog pages.

spacer We will host our summer "Daylily Days" on Saturdays and Sundays, July 10 through August 15. You can come to the farm and select your daylilies in bloom. We will dig them for you while you wait. This is by far the best way to select a daylily! Please e-mail for directions.

spacerThe second part of the farm is LONGLESSON ANGUS, and takes up most of our 385 acres. We raise registered Angus seed stock for sale to cattlemen throughout the northeast. Cows are bred A.I. to only the best sires, and an emphasis is placed on temperament, pasture performance, and easy calving. Each spring we have a selection of young bulls for sale, as well as some heifers, bred heifers, and bred cows. See the ANGUS PAGES for additional information on the cattle as well as animals for sale.

We have recently started marketing pasture raised, grass-finished freezer beef, selling quarters and halves, as well as individual cuts. Please see our Angus web-site for additional information on this healthy alternative to feedlot beef. www.longlessonangus.com
